aespa's new song "Whiplash" has achieved the highest record of 2024 for a K-pop girl group on Spotify's Daily Top Songs Global chart.
According to the chart released on October 21, aespa’s fifth mini-album title track "Whiplash" debuted at 53rd place with 2,102,148 streams on its first day. This marks aespa's highest debut on the chart to date and is the best entry for any K-pop girl group song released in 2024. Considering the song was released at 6 p.m. KST and only 15 hours of streaming were counted, the impressive debut reflects the explosive global response to the song. Expectations are high for its continued success in the coming days.
Additionally, the album topped the iTunes Top Albums chart in 24 regions, including Colombia and Spain. In China, it reached number one on Tencent Music's integrated K-pop chart, Kugou Music's digital album sales chart, QQ Music's digital album sales chart, and various music video charts, earning a double platinum certification (awarded for sales exceeding 2 million yuan). In Japan, "Whiplash" also ranked first on AWA’s real-time rising chart and Mora’s foreign songs daily chart, showcasing aespa's strength as a global hitmaker.
aespa will perform their comeback stage on Mnet’s M Countdown on October 24.
