ILLIT's Tearful Acceptance Speech: "A Meaningful Rookie Award... Congrats to My Members" [2024 MAMA Awards]


The group ILLIT received the Rookie of the Year Award at the 2024 MAMA Awards.
On November 22 (KST), the 2024 MAMA Awards US took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, USA. The event was hosted by actor Park Bo-gum. The lineup for the event included American singer-songwriter Anderson .Paak, singer-producer J.Y. Park, and groups ILLIT, KATSEYE, RIIZE, TWS, and YOUNG POSSE.


ILLIT won the Best New Female Artist award at the event. In their acceptance speech, they shared, “It’s already an honor to be able to perform on such a big stage that I dreamed of as a trainee. To also receive such a meaningful rookie award is something I’m deeply grateful for.”


The group continued, saying, “The first thing that comes to mind is wanting to say congratulations to my fellow members, who have practiced together for this debut. I’d also like to thank all the staff at our company who supported us. Above all, the most important people to thank for this award are our fans, GLIT. Without GLIT, we wouldn’t have been able to receive this honor. We promise to stay by your side for a long time, shining brightly together. To our parents, thank you for bringing us into this world. Moving forward, we’ll continue to show you songs and performances that are uniquely ours.”


Tearing up, the group concluded their heartfelt speech.


Meanwhile, the 2024 MAMA Awards, celebrating its 25th anniversary, kicked off on November 22 at noon at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The event continued the same day with Chapter 1 starting at 4 p.m. at Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan with a red carpet event. Chapter 2 will feature another red carpet event at 1 p.m. on November 23, followed by the awards ceremony at 3 p.m.
