BTS Jimin and Jungkook Nominated for '2024 BBMAs' for the Second Consecutive Year, Showcasing Global Popularity
BTS members Jimin and Jungkook have been nominated as finalists at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), further solidifying their global fame.
According to the finalists list announced on November 25 (local time), Jimin and Jungkook were named in the "Top Global K-Pop Artist" and "Top Global K-Pop Song" categories. Continuing their solo careers, the two have been nominated for BBMAs for the second year in a row, maintaining their prominent status in the music world.
Jimin's title track Who from his second solo album MUSE earned him a spot in the "Top Global K-Pop Song" category. The song debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Jimin's sixth solo track to make it onto the chart. Who has remained a fan favorite, staying on the Hot 100 chart for an impressive 17 consecutive weeks.
Jungkook, on the other hand, is in contention for two categories with his solo single 3D (feat. Jack Harlow) and the title track Standing Next to You from his solo album GOLDEN. Standing Next to You also landed a nomination in the "Top Selling Song" category. Both tracks entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 5 upon their release.
Additionally, GOLDEN is a finalist for "Top K-Pop Album." The album has stayed on the Billboard 200 for 24 consecutive weeks, setting a record for the longest-charting Korean solo artist album. Jungkook also became the first K-Pop solo artist to be nominated in the "Top Song Sales Artist" category. In total, Jungkook has been named a finalist in six categories, making him the most nominated K-Pop artist at this year’s BBMAs.
BTS has won a total of 12 BBMAs trophies over the years, including "Top Social Artist" (2017–2021), "Top Duo/Group" (2019, 2021–2022), "Top Song Sales Artist" (2021–2022), and "Top Selling Song" (2021–2022). In 2023, Jungkook took home the award for "Top Global K-Pop Song" with his solo single Seven (feat. Latto).
The BBMAs, one of the four major American music award shows alongside the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and MTV VMAs, will be held on December 12. The ceremony will air on FOX and Amazon Fire TV Channel, with later streaming availability on Paramount+.
