ADOR Requests Media to Use 'NewJeans' Instead of 'NJZ'


ADOR has urged reporters to use the official group name 'NewJeans' rather than 'NJZ' when covering the group’s activities.


The company stated, "NewJeans members have announced their intent to promote under an unapproved group name, causing confusion among reporters. The exclusive contracts between NewJeans members and ADOR remain legally valid, and claims of contract termination are unilateral assertions."


ADOR further explained, "We have filed an injunction to confirm our status as the group's management company under the exclusive contract, along with a lawsuit verifying the validity of the contract. We ask that media outlets use the official team name, 'NewJeans,' in their reports based on the legally binding contract." The company emphasized the importance of exclusive contracts in the entertainment industry and called for accurate reporting.


Additionally, ADOR expressed their commitment to resolving the ongoing situation swiftly, stating, "We ask for your cooperation in ensuring precise coverage. We are doing our best to end this confusion as soon as possible and continue delivering great music and content."


Meanwhile, on February 7, NewJeans announced their rebranding as 'NJZ', with plans to release a new song on March 23. The group will also perform under the name 'NJZ' at ComplexCon in Hong Kong.


During a live broadcast, member Minji shared her excitement, saying, "Our new song, which is also NJZ's debut track, will be released on March 23. I'm thrilled and nervous." Hyein added, "Just like we've always done, we'll continue to showcase something new as NJZ."


On the legal front, ADOR filed a lawsuit on December 3, 2024, with the Seoul Central District Court to confirm the validity of the exclusive contracts with NewJeans members. On January 13, 2025, ADOR also filed an injunction to prohibit the signing of advertising contracts. The court hearing for this injunction is scheduled for March 7.
