Hanni, a member of the group formerly known as NewJeans—now rebranded as NJZ—has officially received a new visa, putting an end to recent illegal residency allegations.
On February 12, Hankyoreh reported that Hanni had successfully obtained a legal visa through proper administrative procedures. According to the report, Hanni followed the necessary legal steps to secure her residency status. A representative from Hanni’s side stated, “Despite obtaining the visa through standard administrative procedures, false reports spread due to unauthorized leaks of personal information. This led to multiple complaints being filed, raising serious concerns about privacy and human rights violations.”
Previously, reports suggested that Hanni might be classified as an illegal resident after leaving her agency, ADOR, as she no longer met the eligibility criteria for the E-6 (Arts & Entertainment) visa. The controversy escalated when some individuals allegedly reported her to the Ministry of Justice as an illegal resident.
However, with confirmation of her visa reissuance, the controversy surrounding Hanni’s residency status has now been resolved.
