Monsta X member Kihyun has been discharged from the military, welcomed back by Monbebe (the group’s fandom).


On the morning of the 21st, Kihyun completed his military service at the 25th Infantry Division in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, officially stepping back into civilian life. With a nervous yet excited stride, he first greeted the fans who had gathered to celebrate his return. 


Around 600 fans had patiently waited from the previous day, maintaining order to show their support. Expressing his gratitude, Kihyun told them, "It must be so cold. Thank you so much."


Kihyun enlisted as an active-duty soldier in August 2023 and diligently fulfilled his military duties. He is the fourth Monsta X member to complete military service, following Shownu, Minhyuk, and Joohoney. Shownu served as a public service worker, Minhyuk was discharged in October last year, and Joohoney completed his service last month. Hyungwon is set to be discharged in May, while the youngest member, I.M, has not yet enlisted.
Proudly displaying his "Army Warrior Award," Kihyun shared his thoughts on completing his service: "As of February 21, 2025, I have been officially discharged. Over the past year and a half, I worked hard to the point where I have no regrets. I even received many awards. I can stand before Monbebe with pride."


Reflecting on his time in the military, he added, "A year and a half is not a short time. Although I was able to show my face occasionally, it wasn’t easy to stay connected while being apart. Seeing so many of you here today is truly touching. Since you waited for me, I’ll work even harder as Monsta X’s Kihyun."


Regarding his future plans, he excitedly shared, "I want to release an album after my discharge. Watching performances from other artists while serving made me really miss the stage. I want to see you all as soon as possible."


This year holds special significance for Monsta X as they celebrate their 10th anniversary. Once Hyungwon is discharged in May, the group plans to reunite as a complete team and meet their fans. Kihyun teased their upcoming activities, saying, "Thank you so much for waiting. Aren’t you excited to see what’s ahead? We have so much planned. We’ll be performing a lot, releasing new music, and preparing many surprises. Please look forward to it!"


He also sent words of encouragement to Hyungwon, who is nearing his discharge: "This is the slowest part of the wait. Stay safe, take care of yourself, and don’t get hurt. There's a huge celebration waiting the day after your discharge, so come back healthy, and let’s take the stage together. Thank you."


Monsta X, who debuted in 2015, has gained immense popularity with hits like "DRAMARAMA," "GAMBLER," "Shoot Out," "Love Killa," and "Alligator."
