UNIS Chosen by Billboard… Named ‘K-Pop Rookie of the Month’ Just One Year After Debut


Girl group UNIS has caught the attention of Billboard.


On February 28 (local time), UNIS (Jin Hyunju, Nana, Jelly Danka, Kotoko, Bang Yoonha, Elicia, Oh Yoonah, Im Seowon) was selected as Billboard's K-Pop Rookie of the Month for February 2025. In an article titled "UNIS Is Billboard's K-Pop Rookie of the Month for February," Billboard highlighted the group's journey over the past year, leading up to their first anniversary. The media outlet also conducted an interview with UNIS, discussing their experiences, growth, and future challenges.


Looking back on the past year, UNIS described their debut and rookie award win as the most memorable moments. The members shared, "Debuting was our first step as UNIS. We were extremely nervous to introduce ourselves to the fans who had been waiting for us." They added, "Winning the rookie award felt like true recognition of our hard work."


When asked about their goals for this year, Jin Hyunju, Kotoko, Bang Yoonha, Elicia, and Im Seowon confidently stated, "Our goal is to win first place on all music shows." Meanwhile, Jelly Danka expressed her hope, saying, "It would be amazing if UNIS could hold our first solo concert this year."


UNIS also hinted at exciting plans for 2025, saying, "We plan to showcase sides of UNIS that haven’t been seen before. UNIS is not limited to a single concept—we’re ready to present everything from cute and lovely to chic and charismatic. Fans can look forward to a variety of styles from us this year."


As Billboard recognized, UNIS has been actively expanding its global presence. Last year, they released two albums and dominated award ceremonies, sweeping a total of 12 trophies, including multiple rookie awards, proving their immense potential.


Their success continues into this year. UNIS was named the "Most Anticipated Rookie Girl Group of 2025" at the 2025 Korea First Brand Awards. On January 22, at the 1st D Awards, they won two awards, including the Dreams Silver Label and the Discovery of the Year award, cementing their rising status in the industry.
