BTS’s Jimin has added a new record in Japan.
According to the Japan Recording Association on March 28th, the title track ‘Who’ from Jimin’s second solo album ‘MUSE’ surpassed 50 million cumulative streams as of February, earning ‘Gold’ certification in the streaming category. This marks Jimin’s first solo song to receive ‘Gold’ certification in this category. Previously, Jimin had earned ‘Gold’ certifications for the vocal line unit track ‘Dimple’ (Jin, Jimin, V, and Jungkook) from the team’s repackage album ‘LOVE YOURSELF 結 ‘Answer’’, and ‘Friends’ with V from the regular 4th album ‘MAP OF THE SOUL : 7’, excluding group songs.
‘Who’, released in July 2024, charted on the Billboard Hot 100 for a total of 33 weeks, setting a record for the longest charting K-pop artist. The album ‘MUSE’, which includes the song, also charted on the Billboard 200 for 34 weeks, holding the record for the longest charting album by a Korean solo artist.
The Japan Recording Association certifies songs each month based on cumulative streams (streaming category), categorizing them as Gold (50 million or more), Platinum (100 million or more), and Diamond (500 million or more).
