Rosé’s ‘On The Ground’ is continuing its impressive run, surging back up to No. 7 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100. Simultaneously, the song is achieving significant milestones on charts that gauge popularity among adult and radio listeners in the US, specifically the ‘Adult Contemporary’ and ‘Adult Pop Airplay’ charts.
‘On The Ground’ tied with BTS’s highest-ever rank for a K-pop artist on the ‘Adult Contemporary’ chart, reaching No. 16 this week. Furthermore, the song climbed to No. 4 on the ‘Adult Pop Airplay’ chart, marking the highest rank ever achieved by a K-pop artist on that chart. While it experienced a slight drop from No. 7 to No. 9 on the Pop Airplay list, it had previously reached No. 1 on that chart.
Billboard’s ‘Adult Contemporary’ chart is a traditional chart that aggregates radio airplay numbers from stations that primarily broadcast music to adult listeners in the US. BTS previously achieved a No. 16 ranking with ‘Dynamite’ and their collaboration with Coldplay, ‘My Universe,’ setting the record for the highest rank ever achieved by a K-pop artist. Rosé has now tied that record, climbing from No. 17 to No. 16 this week.
Notably, ‘On The Ground’ has remained on the main Hot 100 chart for an impressive 24 weeks, demonstrating a remarkable resurgence in popularity. Similarly, it has remained on the ‘Adult Contemporary’ chart for 11 weeks, a significant achievement considering the chart’s typically slow rate of rank changes. It remains to be seen how long the song will continue to chart, especially considering BTS’s two songs previously held the record for the longest run on the chart at 20 weeks each.
