South Korean girl group BLACKPINK set a new record for K-pop girl groups' record-breaking initial sales on the first day of the album release.
According to Hanteo Chart, a domestic album aggregation site, BLACKPINK's first studio album 'THE ALBUM' sold about 590,000 copies at once as soon as it was released on the 6th.
This is the highest number on the first day of the release of a single album of all Korean girl groups. Considering the fact that some of the exports to the US and Europe were omitted, it is estimated that the actual sales volume was even higher.
Earlier, 'THE ALBUM' recorded more than 1 million pre-orders during the pre-sale period, making the K-pop girl group expect the creation of an all-time album. In fact, BLACKPINK's 'THE ALBUM' rose to No. 1 on the iTunes album charts in 57 countries, including the United States, right after the sound source was released on the 2nd. In addition, it ranked 7th on the overall Apple Music album chart in the U.S. and at the top of the pop album chart, proving its global reach.
The title song 'Lovesick Girls' was ranked No. 1 on the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart on the 2nd (US time), the first day of release, as well as 3rd on the Spotify Global Top 50 Chart. Other songs 'Bet You Wanna' ranked 4th,'Pretty Savage' at 8th, and'Ice Cream' at 10th, making half of the albums in the top 10.
