Boy group CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Sunghyun, Gunho) is captivating both fans and the public with their self-produced content series that captures their unfiltered daily lives.
On August 25 at 9 p.m., CORTIS uploaded a video titled Yoga Challenge on their official YouTube channel. In the video, the members compete in a yoga contest with a meal on the line. There’s nothing flashy about the setting—just two mats laid out on the floor—but the chemistry between the five members keeps the laughter rolling nonstop. Within just one week of their debut, CORTIS has already released three episodes of their self-made content, sharing glimpses of their everyday life.
Typically, video views fall below a channel’s subscriber count, but CORTIS is proving to be an exception. Their very first self-made content, Pack Up Bro, released on August 21, racked up more than twice the number of views compared to their subscriber base. This suggests that their videos are spreading beyond the fandom to the general public through word of mouth. The subscriber growth has also been remarkable: as of 2 p.m. on the 26th, their channel’s subscribers had surged by over 120% compared to the 21st.
While many K-pop groups’ self-produced content nowadays are meticulously scripted and planned, CORTIS breaks away from that mold by showing their lives as they really are—offering a nostalgic charm reminiscent of early-2000s reality cam shows. Even in their very first video, the members appeared with bare faces and casual everyday clothes, jumping right into showing themselves packing for an overseas shoot. Without staged scenarios, their natural conversations highlighted each member’s personality and relationships. The mix of teenage spontaneity and straightforward presentation created explosive synergy. Viewers responded enthusiastically with comments such as: “They don’t feel like rookies, but a whole new species,” “They’re bringing a fresh wind into the idol scene,” and “This brings back the early BigHit Music vibes.”
BigHit Music, from BTS’s earliest days, actively leveraged self-produced content to connect with fans—through personal blogs, behind-the-scenes clips like BANGTAN BOMB, and candid glimpses of daily life. Fans say that CORTIS’s videos evoke that same sense of authenticity and nostalgia, by showing reality rather than polished, scripted productions.
CORTIS is set to release their debut album documentary What We Want on September 1, capturing the behind-the-scenes process of music, choreography, and video creation as part of their “Young Creator Crew.” The trailer will be released on August 29 at 8 p.m., followed by all four episodes premiering on September 1 at 8 p.m. Fans can look forward to seeing a different side of CORTIS from the carefree charm shown in their daily content.
