Hoshi (real name Kwon Soon-young), a member of the group SEVENTEEN, has donated 100 million KRW to support the construction of a public school in Ndola, Zambia, southern Africa, the Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Kim Byung-joon) announced on the 16th.

Following his 100 million KRW donation in 2024 to support the construction of the Lao National Orphanage School, this marks his second overseas school project aimed at improving poor educational environments, as he donates an additional 100 million KRW for Zambia.

The new school will be an elementary school serving kindergarten through 7th grade, with more than 350 children enrolled. However, previously, the school had only two classrooms, forcing multiple grades to share the same space under difficult conditions. Upon hearing this, Hoshi and his parents decided to provide support so that children could nurture their dreams in a more stable learning environment. Through the Community Chest of Korea in Northern Gyeonggi, in cooperation with the Zambia Mission of the Korea Nazarene Holiness Church and Life of the Children, two new buildings (five classrooms) will be constructed and the existing facilities will be remodeled.

Hoshi shared, “I want to give a little strength and encouragement to children growing up in difficult circumstances, and I hope they can grow up healthier in the new classrooms.”

Meanwhile, in 2021, Hoshi donated 100 million KRW and joined the “Honor Society,” the high-value donor group of the Community Chest of Korea, as its 2,655th member. Along with his fellow SEVENTEEN members, he also serves as a UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassador, continuing to spread positive influence.

Hoshi enlisted in the military as an active-duty soldier on September 16.
