Jeon Jong-seo Cast in 100-Billion-Won Blockbuster ‘Highlander’ — To Star Alongside Henry Cavill and Mark Ruffalo
Actress Jeon Jong-seo has joined the cast of the Hollywood mega-blockbuster “Highlander” remake, drawing global attention from film fans around the world.
The upcoming film is a large-scale production with a budget of approximately 100 billion KRW (about $75 million USD) and features an all-star lineup including Henry Cavill, Mark Ruffalo, Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Jeremy Irons. It will be directed by Chad Stahelski, the visionary filmmaker behind the John Wick series known for his signature action aesthetics. Production is being handled by United Label, a studio under Amazon MGM Studios.
In the film, Jeon Jong-seo will play a member of “The Watchers”, a secret organization that monitors immortals.
The Highlander franchise originated from the 1986 film of the same name, which developed a strong cult following over the decades. As such, this remake has garnered immense anticipation and interest from longtime fans of the series.
Jeon Jong-seo, who first gained international recognition for her acclaimed performance in Lee Chang-dong’s Burning (invited to the Cannes Film Festival), has continued expanding her global presence through her Hollywood debut Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon and the Toronto International Film Festival–invited film Project Y.
With her casting in Highlander, Jeon is expected to further solidify her standing on the global stage. The remake is scheduled to begin filming in early 2026.
