‘Permission to Dance’ MV Surpasses 700 Million Views



BTS has added another music video to their 700-million-view lineup.



The music video for “Permission to Dance,” released simultaneously worldwide in July 2021, surpassed 700 million views on YouTube at around 5:14 p.m. on the 10th. With this achievement, BTS now has a total of 10 music videos that have exceeded 700 million views. “Permission to Dance” is a dance-pop track that conveys the message that “anyone can dance freely without permission,” especially to those who have had a hard day. Released during the COVID-19 pandemic, the song delivered a warm message of comfort, encouraging listeners to “find freedom and happiness through music” and reminding them that “life goes on nonetheless.”



The music video is filled with the members’ bright and energetic presence. In the latter part, the seven members perform choreography using international sign language together with a crowd, deepening the message of hope. BTS also left a meaningful mark by performing “Permission to Dance” at the 76th United Nations General Assembly in 2021. Beginning inside the UN conference hall and moving through the lobby, entrance, and lawn, the performance spread positive energy worldwide and drew major attention.



Upon release, “Permission to Dance” debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and remained on the chart for seven consecutive weeks. The track also earned a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling over 500,000 units. RIAA counts units based on album sales, digital downloads, and weighted streams.

Meanwhile, BTS won the “AAA 10 Legendary (Group)” award at the 10th Asia Artist Awards 2025 held on the 6th at Kaohsiung National Stadium. As the group prepares for a full-group comeback next spring, expectations for their new album and world tour continue to grow, reaffirmed by their enduring popularity and strong presence.
