Director Bong Joon Ho will be the president of the International Jury of the Competition at the 78th Venice International Film Festival which will be held from September 1 to 11 and which assign the Golden Lion for Best Film, as well as other official awards.
He is the the first Korean Jury President.
On September 1 (local time), the 78th Venice International Film Festival begins on the island of Lido, Venice, Italy. Spain's director Pedro Almodovar's 'Parallel Mothers' was selected as the Opening Film.
The Venice International Film Festival is considered one of the world's top three film festivals along with the Cannes International Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival. It started in 1932 and has the longest tradition as an international film festival.
