BTS Jimin's 'Face' is heating up Japan.
According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), Jimin's solo album 'Face' recorded more than 250,000 cumulative shipments as of March 2023 and obtained platinum certification.
This is the only record for a Korean solo artist in 2023, and is the first honor ever for a K-pop solo singer for a Korean album, not a Japanese album.
According to the cumulative shipments of singles and albums, the Recording Industry Association of Japan names albums as Gold (100,000 copies or more), Platinum (250,000 copies or more), Double Platinum (500,000 copies or more), Triple Platinum (750,000 copies or more), and Million (1 million copies) each month.
Jimin's 'Face' previously took first place in Oricon's 'Weekly Combined Album Ranking', 'Weekly Digital Album Ranking', and 'Weekly Album Ranking', winning three crowns in the weekly music rankings. This is also an outstanding record set for the first time as a solo artist this year.
This week (as of April 17th), it ranked 7th in Oricon's 'Weekly Album Ranking' and charted in the top 10 for 3 consecutive weeks, ranked 3rd in 'Weekly Foreign Language Album Ranking' and 12th in 'Weekly Digital Album Ranking', even in its 3rd week of release. It maintains steady good performance.
As of March 2023, it ranked second on the Oricon Chart's 'Monthly Album Ranking' with sales of 234,811 copies. This proved their incomparable popularity by recording No. 1 in the monthly foreign language album (Western music category) ranking.
