Jungkook set a new Guinness World Record and showed off his global popularity.
On May 7 (Korean time), UK Guinness World Records announced on its official website that Jungkook, a member of BTS achieved 1 billion streams in the 'shortest' period on Spotify."
Guinness said, "Jungkook has achieved a landmark record of 1 billion streams on Spotify with just three different tracks."
Guinness said that Jungkook's 'Stay Alive' for webtoon 'Seven FATES: CHAKHO' OST , 'Left and Right'(a collaboration song with American singer Charlie Puth), and 'Dreamers', the official soundtrack of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, led to 1 billion streaming in 409 days on Spotify.
It is also said that this record is 2 days shorter than BLACKPINK Lisa, who was previously announced as a K-pop solo artist (female) who achieved 1 billion streams in the shortest period on Spotify.
In the 2022 year-end settlement announced by Spotify, Jungkook was the only solo artist to be listed in the top 10 along with outstanding K-pop groups enjoying top-notch popularity, ranking first as the most listened-to K-pop solo singer of the year.
In addition, he was charted on the Spotify global chart for more than 400 days, holding the first and only record as a K-pop soloist.
Jungkook was previously selected as one of the "200 Greatest Singers of All Time" by the American popular music media "Rolling Stone." Jungkook was the only Korean male singer to have the honor of being named.
