YG Entertainment has announced the debut lineup for their new girl group BABYMONS7ER. Contrary to initial expectations of a 5-member group, they will debut as a 7-member group to everyone's surprise.
Yang Hyun-suk, the CEO of YG Entertainment, personally revealed the members through a video announcement on the official Babymonster YouTube channel.
Yang Hyun-suk introduced the first member, Ahn Ah-yeon, a 15-year-old Korean member, praising her wide vocal range and stating that she is the most optimized member as a pop artist and has the ability to lead Babymonster . He then announced the second member, Ruka, a 20-year-old Japanese member, highlighting her many charms of her and predicting that many people will be captivated by her.
The third member revealed was Chikata, a Thai member. Yang Hyun-suk explained that Chikata is the youngest and has the shortest training period among the members, but she has shown rapid growth and has high potential for improvement.
Yang Hyun-suk further introduced Hara, a 15-year-old Korean member, praising her creative and unique singing style of her, which influenced her selection as a member of Babymonster. Regarding Laura and Asa, the excluded members, Yang Hyun-suk explained that he wanted to use Laura as the main vocalist in the upcoming female group because of her young age. As for Asa, who has been a trainee for 4 years and 9 months, he praised her versatility as she was able to rap and sing, and he expressed his desire to include her in a project starting from the end of this year to early next year, aimed at creating a global girl group in Japan.
Yang Hyun-suk mentioned that there was a strong demand from fans for a 7-member debut, considering them as true YG Family fans.
