NME, a renowned music magazine in the UK, shed light on BOYNEXTDOOR's debut on June 30 (local time) through a solo interview.
NME explained that they had high expectations for BOYNEXTDOOR since ZICO, the head of KOZ Entertainment and a singer-producer, announced the production of a K-pop boy group last year, saying, "Even when we didn't know BOYNEXTDOOR's name, all eyes were on this team." They praised the members for actively showcasing their creative capabilities from their debut single, where they participated in the creation of two out of the triple title tracks. NME remarked, "Their approach of not following the typical flow, like debuting with triple title tracks, proved that BOYNEXTDOOR will be an unpredictable group."
In this interview commemorating their one-month debut, the members looked back on the process of creating their debut single 'WHO!' and introduced various undisclosed tastes and personalities.
When asked to describe BOYNEXTDOOR's sound in three words, they said, "Joyful, new and long-awaited," adding, "People always crave something new, but at the same time, they find comfort in the familiar. We wanted to combine these two emotions."
Regarding the most memorable moment since their debut, they all agreed it was "the moment they met their fans." They expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans who came to see them, saying, "We couldn't believe that fans came to see us. We will forever cherish the immense support we received that day."
Looking to the future, BOYNEXTDOOR expressed their ambitious goal, stating, "We hope to be known as artists representing this era. We want to remain happy like we are now even then."
BOYNEXTDOOR released their first single 'WHO!' on May 30. With their solid skills and refreshing performances, they successfully concluded four weeks of debut activities, setting the record for the highest initial sales among debut teams this year, and becoming the most promising rookie of 2023 with a rapid increase in followers on the team's official social media channels.
Additionally, BOYNEXTDOOR will participate in the city-type cultural festival 'INSPIRE TOKYO 2023' hosted by the famous Japanese radio station J-WAVE on the 17th, where they will hold their first overseas performance in front of international fans.
