BLACKPINK, a record-breaking world tour with over 2.11 million attendees, continue to draw curiosity and discussions about their future activities.
Regardless of their re-signing with their agency, the positive impact of their successful world tour has been recognized, but attention has also shifted to what's next for the members.
Since their official debut on August 8, 2016, BLACKPINK celebrated their 7th anniversary this past August 8th. They gained attention as a new girl group launched by YG seven years after 2NE1, and they proved their popularity and talent with songs like "Whistle," "Boombayah," "Playing with Fire," "Stay," and other high-quality tracks, establishing themselves as global artists with consecutive hits like "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du," "Forever Young," "Kill This Love," "How You Like That," and "Lovesick Girls."

Additionally, BLACKPINK made history with their 2nd full album, "THE ALBUM," by becoming the first K-pop girl group to top the Billboard 200 chart and the UK Official Albums Chart. Amidst ongoing questions about their re-signing with YG, there have been concerns that the recent concerts at Gocheok Sky Dome on the 16th and 17th of this month might be the group's final stage as a complete unit. Some reports even speculated that BLACKPINK would take a break after the world tour.
However, there are differing perspectives. Lee Seon-hwa, a KB Securities researcher, evaluated, "BLACKPINK's global fandom strengthened through the world tour, resulting in an increase in intellectual property (IP) value. They generated indirect income without direct artist activity." She added, "While there are concerns in the market about BLACKPINK's re-signing and exclusive contract fees, it is estimated that the increase in intangible asset depreciation due to BLACKPINK's re-signing will not be burdensome, given the rise in IP value of latecomers."
In fact, as seen with previous cases involving Big Bang and 2NE1, YG has never officially announced their artists' re-signing. If a re-signing does not occur, it is more likely to be known from other sources. Furthermore, the negative signals that have emerged so far, while not officially confirmed, may contribute to the saying "no news is good news."
However, apart from these circumstances, there have been rumors regarding the members' future endeavors. Even before this, there were discussions among the members about protecting the title "BLACKPINK." These discussions have continued, with speculations about what might be next for the members emerging one after another.
