The girl group BABYMONSTER held a round interview to commemorate the release of their first mini-album 'BABYMONS7ER' at YG Entertainment's new building in Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 1st. BABYMONSTER is a rookie girl group debuting under YG about seven years after BLACKPINK. They debuted last November with their first digital single 'BATTER UP' but had to temporarily promote as a six-member group due to Ah Hyun's health reasons. YG officially confirmed Ah Hyun's return last month, and they debuted as a complete group starting with the release of 'BABYMONS7ER'.
As a result, BABYMONSTER has been called 'BLACKPINK's younger sister' even before their debut. When asked if there was pressure regarding that nickname, Lami responded, "Just the fact that we can receive such a nickname is a great honor. Thanks to that, we are receiving a lot of attention, and we feel it's a great honor because we've been receiving a lot of interest from before until now. Thank you."
Their new album 'BABYMONS7ER' is named with a variation of the number 7, symbolizing the seven members within the team name's spelling. It includes various genres such as the powerful hip-hop title track 'SHEESH,' the intro track 'MONSTERS' that reveals BABYMONSTER's identity, 'LIKE THAT,' a collaboration with the world-famous singer-songwriter Charlie Puth, and 'DREAM,' a pre-debut track.
The title track 'SHEESH' utilizes the exclamation 'SHEESH,' meaning 'amazing,' and contains BABYMONSTER's bold aspirations to 'surprise the world.' Especially, YG's head producer Yang Hyun-suk directly participated in finalizing the choreography, and top-tier choreographers including Bada were involved to enhance the completeness.
