NewJeans, a rising K-pop group consisting of Minji, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, and Hyein, proved their global power by winning an additional trophy at the prestigious U.S. music awards.
On April 1st (local time), at the '2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards' held in Los Angeles, the group won the 'Best New Artist (K-Pop)' category. The iHeartRadio Music Awards, organized by the U.S. online radio broadcaster iHeartRadio since 2014, honors artists and songs most played on iHeartRadio broadcasts and applications throughout the year.
NewJeans expressed their gratitude in a video, saying, "Thanks to the support of our fans, the Bunnies, we gain the strength to work hard every day." They sincerely thanked everyone who helped them.
NewJeans previously won the 'Top Global K-pop Artist' at the 'Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs)' last November, and last month, they became the first K-pop artist to win the 'Group of the Year' at the 'Billboard Women in Music Awards,' confirming their strong global popularity and stature.
The consecutive wins at U.S. music awards ceremonies attest to NewJeans' global presence. Last year, they topped the Billboard 200 chart among K-pop artists in the shortest period after debut (1 year) and had five songs ('OMG,' 'Ditto,' 'Super Shy,' 'ETA,' 'Cool With You') on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. They also performed on major international music festival stages such as 'Lollapalooza Chicago' in the U.S. and 'Summer Sonic' in Japan, demonstrating explosive audience appeal.
Furthermore, NewJeans is set to release double singles in Korea and Japan on May 24th and June 21st, respectively, and engage in active promotions between the two countries. The fan meeting 'Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome,' scheduled for June 26-27 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, will feature a stage of 24 songs, including four new tracks.
