BTS has set another remarkable record in Japan. According to the ranking announced by Oricon on the 12th, BTS's single CD 'Butter', released in July 2021, has topped the 'Combined Single Ranking' in terms of sales.
This ranking was calculated based on sales in Japan from May 2019 to January 2024. BTS became the first overseas artist to top the 'Combined Single Ranking' of the Oricon era.
The single CD 'Butter' includes the eponymous song released by BTS in May 2021, as well as the new song 'Permission to Dance' and instrumental versions of both songs. During the ranking period, this album recorded over 3.2 million streams and over 230,000 digital single sales, earning a total of 3,434,886 points.
In this ranking, only two works earned over 3 million points: 'Butter' and the song '夜に?ける' (Yoru ni Kakeru / Run into the Night) released by the Japanese mixed band YOASOBI in 2019. By surpassing YOASOBI, who is considered one of Japan's leading artists, BTS once again proved their unparalleled popularity by topping the 'Combined Single Ranking'.
