BTS's V has achieved a major milestone with his solo track "Rainy Days," surpassing 270 million streams on Spotify. The song, which is part of V's first solo album Layover, reached this impressive number on August 9th (KST) on the world's largest music streaming platform.
"Rainy Days" quickly topped iTunes charts in eight of the world's largest music markets, including the United States, as well as in Europe and globally, setting an "all-kill" record. It also secured the No. 1 spot on Japan's Oricon Daily Digital Single Chart and reached No. 1 on iTunes in 103 countries.
The music video for "Rainy Days" also gained widespread popularity, ranking as the most-viewed music video worldwide within 24 hours of its release. Additionally, it became the second most popular music video globally, following the music video for another Layover track, "Love Me Again." "Rainy Days" is an alternative pop R&B song that features a beautiful blend of vintage percussion and modern drum sounds, with V's understated vocals standing out prominently.
The U.S. music magazine Rolling Stone ranked "Rainy Days" at No. 58 on its list of "The Best Songs of 2023," the highest rank for a K-pop solo track and the fourth highest for any K-pop song overall. Rolling Stone praised V for showcasing his talent in "Rainy Days," describing how he "displays a refined depth in his baritone voice, which is soft and sweet like walking through clouds, singing against a melancholy piano melody and relaxed beats."
Fans celebrated the first anniversary of the release of "Rainy Days," with the hashtag "1YearWithRainyDays" trending at No. 1 worldwide on X (formerly Twitter). Other related hashtags, including "1YearWithLoVeMeAgain," "GROUNDBREAKING ARTIST V," and "Happy1stAnniversaryRainyDays," followed closely at No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4, respectively.
